A Pleasant Farms man who thought deputies were going to come to his house to arrest a man he described as a sex offender was arrested instead.
According to an Ector County Sheriff’s Office report, Daniel Renee Sanchez, 37, called 911 Sunday to say he’d detained a sex offender on his property in the 4500 block of West Mulberry Street.
When deputies arrived, Sanchez said he’d detained, at gunpoint, a 21-year-old man who had texted inappropriate things to his stepson a week prior, the report stated.
the thing wrong with this is he should been charged with attempted murder of a 21 y/o
How many 21 year olds say or do immature things that can be sexual in nature? If the stepdad was bothered by something the 21 said to his stepson why not have a conversation with him. Obviously in his eyes he thought holding a 21 yr old at gunpoint was the better option. The 37 should be monitored because he sounds like he has some nuts, screws, or bolts missing upstairs.
No remorse from this one. Just going off the mugshot anyway. Throw the book at him.
The young man texted inappropriate comments one week earlier, but nothing further happened after that such as his attempting to meet with Sanchez’s stepson. Now I would understand if Sanchez & his stepson colluded in a ‘Catch A Predator’ style operation where the stepson asked the young man to come over for sex. I’m certain law enforcement would understand Sanchez flipping out over that, and he probably wouldn’t be facing charges. Instead, stepdad had asked the young man to come over to smoke weed. I do question the young man’s judgement about accepting a home invitation by the dad who’s son was on the internet receiving sexual messages from this naive young man. It seems all parties involved made pretty poor decisions
Welcome to my state…
I wonder what “inappropriate” exchange happened. Was it criminal or merely socially distaste/unattractive/repugnant?
What damage, physical or psychological, did the stepson sustain even?
One thing seems certain: police didn’t find or wouldn’t have found whatever the 21-year-old had said to be chargeable.
